Spitzer Scandal Tricky for Parents

NEW YORK (AP) — Gil Rosa’s high school students were young children when Bill Clinton’s trysts with Monica Lewinsky threatened his presidency.
A decade later, the news that Gov. Eliot Spitzer was caught consorting with high-priced hookers left students in his social studies class largely unfazed.
“My kids are desensitized,” said Rosa, who teaches at School Without Walls in Rochester, N.Y. “They’re like, ‘Whatever.’”
Yet for Rosa, and other teachers across the nation, the Spitzer prostitution scandal has been a teachable moment.
“The kids are very opinionated,” he said. “It’s split between the kids saying that he’s being a hypocrite and others who feel that it’s a victimless crime and that we have a lot of other things to worry about.”
Experts say that most teenagers are unlikely to be shocked by the tawdry details of Spitzer’s downfall, but that parents of younger children should tread carefully and wait for the child to broach the subject.
“I would follow their lead and only discuss it if they’re interested,” said Dr. Dominic Ferro, a psychiatrist in Nanuet, N.Y., and past president of the American Society for Adolescent Psychiatry. “And then I think the discussion has to be according to the kid’s developmental age.”

Repukes so easily forget the Jeff Gannon scandal, where a gay prostitute does overnight stays at the White House posing as a member of the press. Not to discriminate against either gays or against prostitutes, but to illustrate the hypocrisy of the Repukes in general. Remember how that issue died away without the lamestream press ever really latching on to it, and with no investigation whatsoever into the serious fraud and security breach perped by the criminals at 1600 Penn. The criminals at 1600 Penn who hire gay prostitutes.
The Republicans were also uncharacteristically forgiving of Jeff Gannon II — Matt Sanchez (aka Rod Majors the “Excellent-Top”). Sanchez has become a spokesperson for a conservative veterans group in spite of his decade long career as a gay pr0n star and a male prostitute.
Anyone who the thinks the Spizer story is a “we win, you lose” story is, quite frankly, stupid. There is more than enough sleaze and corruption going on in both parties. The one thing the Spizer story does is point out the incredible liberal bias on digg. Larry Craig was excoriated for being a Republican hypocrite because we all know Republicans are Bible thumpers who hate gays. Don’t you think there’s some hypocrisy tagging along with the Spitzer story? A former prosecutor? Larry Craig stories were front and center on digg for a week. You see any Spitzer stories? Oh wait, he’s a Democrat. lol
