Seismic event felt in Northern Virginia

At 1:30 p.m. today, Northern Virginia residents felt the rumblings of a 1.8 magnitude earthquake. The quake originated in Annandale and was felt in Washington, D.C., Arlington, Springfield and Mount Vernon.
Fairfax County Police received reports from multiple callers reporting an audible “boom” sound, followed by roughly four seconds of the earth rumbling. There are no reports of damage to property or injuries related to the incident at this time.
The epicenter of the quake was about two miles west of Annandale, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The last earthquake in Northern Virginia was in Manassas on Sept. 29, 1997, registering 2.5 magnitude. That same year, two months earlier, there was a 2.5 magnitude quake in Culpeper.
In 2005, there was a 2.1 magnitude earthquake near Baltimore, Md.
Regarding the loud boom, “That does happen sometimes,” said Don Blakeman, a seismologist with the USGS. “An earthquake sometimes can be heard, the closer to the epicenter you are.”

These incidents are very unfortunate for everyone, beyond just the victims involved. That being said, blaming a retailer for the actions of its customer isn’t logical in the least. We don’t complain about the local Ford dealer selling cars to people who then modify them (sometimes illegally) to compete in illegal street races where people are killed.The VT shooter was ineligible for gun ownership but slipped through the cracks. This guy already owned guns but bought accessories that were possibly used. I don’t think it’s quite time to crucify these vendors yet.
I think this is flawed logic. I have a CHL in Texas, and the ONLY time I’d even think about taking my gun out is if someone’s life was in danger or in other rare occasions. Just because I have a CHL does not mean that I am allowed to brandish my gun in someones face that I have beef with. If I did, not only would I get my CHL revoked, but have charges brought against me. People with a CHL are law abiding, upstanding citizens. It’s people who do not follow the law and carry unlawfully that we should worry about.
Have more people carry guns. If someone in that room had a handgun the body count would have been 2, maybe 3, before he was picked off.
The problem with more people carrying guns is that it leads to escalation of violence in more ordinary situations.
