Paul Craig Roberts says a lot of things that aren’t necessarily true.
I’m calling “tinfoil hat” on this one.People have been waiting for this to happen since 9/12 and it hasn’t yet.You cannot safely instate a draft with the kind of generally rebellious atmosphere in the US today. The last thing the military needs is a 2 to 1 majority anti-Bush to patriot. This isn’t the same as being against -ONE- war when you have people on the verge of revolution.
That depends on the nature of the false flag operation. If its a minor “look at the evil plot we foiled” - I agree it wouldn’t be enough to reinstate the draft. If its severe enough, it might work, and would also serve to hand the w admin the keys to the mansion and close of congress and the judiciary from interfering with their plans. They also desperately need to do something to increase the number of troops. Iraq needs a ratio of one soldier to every 40 civilians in order to have even a remote chance at sustainability, which equates to about 600 million troops on the ground. And, if they want even a ghost of a chance at having anything besides utter defeat to report when they invade Iran, the need for troops will be even higher. The american public will tolerate many things - suspension of rights, a leadership with a torture fetish, being spied on, being duped into a couple of wars - but they’ll never countenance open failure. Never. Without a massive increase in troop numbers, that’s all that will come out of Iran when they finally decide to go in.–There seem to be two scenarios:A small false flag operation aimed at short term political goals (boost poll numbers, bolster failing republican support, help support current policies and activities);A large false flag operation, aimed at gaining the support needed to invade another country and/or a dramatic boost in Iraq troop numbers and/or a suspension of more parts of the constitution (like the 22nd amendment).permalinkparentsmelendez (1 child) [+]smelendez 6 points 9 months ago [-] Iraq needs a ratio of one soldier to every 40 civilians in order to have even a remote chance at sustainability, which equates to about 600 million troops on the ground.Iraq has 24 billion people?
Count on it.
Your right, definitely needs fighter jets roaring overhead with blue and red exhaust.
damnithas reddit become the home of internet conspiracy theorists?bush MAY do a lot of things.
Is Draft somehow a bad thing? I think it’s only fair that the richer part of the population also has some real price to pay for the wars US starts.
You are exactly right. Not only that, but there is no way the draft would come back because they couldn’t make it a draft that only took the poor, as in Vietnam. They would have to open it up and include white middle class kids in it. Never would pass.
Fine, vote me down. Whatever. Go back to prisonplanet, tools.
Why do you think I’m being downvoted?Note: I didn’t say rich, I said richer.
OK, so person with no connection whatsoever to the Bush administration makes some bold claims.Right.In any event, the draft would be a good thing for this country. We wouldn’t be so quick to send young men and women overseas to fight and die if there existed a possibility of it being your own kid.
No matter how much I dislike Bush, I don’t think he’s a traitor.Orchestrating or allowing a terrorist attack against American interests would definitely be considered treason.Big conspiracies like this would require so many people to know about them, that it couldn’t possibly be kept secret. Those involved would be exposed and almost certainly hanged.
